A dinner jacket is the one garment where the rules do the work for you, so we keep them: peak lapel faced in grosgrain, single button, no vents, and a trouser with a single braid down the outside seam.
No belt loops, ever. The trouser is finished with a curtained waistband and brace buttons, and hemmed with no turn-up.
We keep four spare metres of the house midnight barathea in the archive against the day a client needs a matching waistcoat or a second trouser.
