Everything about this cut answers to creasing. High-twist open-weave worsted, minimal internal structure, a lighter sleevehead, and lining reduced to the shoulders and back.

The trouser has a slightly deeper rise so it stays put through a long flight, and a single rear pocket with a button so nothing falls out when you lean back.

It is not the most beautiful jacket we cut. It is the one clients replace first, because they wear it four times a week.

From the cutter

Order the second trouser. Trousers wear out at three times the rate of the jacket and a matched pair cut from the same length will still match in four years.

Cloths we would suggest

Full book

Stone Fresco

Pellandro, Biella · 9.5oz

Open, wiry and almost porous — you can hold it to the light and see through it. Wears far cooler than the weight suggests.

Ink Wool-Mohair

Pellandro, Biella · 10oz

A dry hand with a faint sheen under lamplight. Springs back out of a chair, which is why it goes into so many evening commissions.

Charcoal Herringbone

Glenrothie Mill, Selkirk · 11oz

The safest cloth in the book and the one we recommend for a first commission. Reads solid at three paces, textured at one.
